Surah Al-'Asr

The Time
Surah 103 3 ayat Revealed in Mecca
Three verses holding the whole formula of success: time is running out, mankind is in loss, except those with faith, good deeds, truth, and patience.

Featured in the app’s pause: 103:1, 103:2, 103:3.

why this surah matters

Three verses, and Imam ash-Shafi'i said that if people pondered this surah, it would be sufficient for them (Tafsir Ibn Kathir). Allah swears by time itself, then issues the audit: mankind is in loss. Not might be losing. Is.

The only exceptions: those who believe, do righteous deeds, and counsel each other to truth and to patience. Faith, action, and company that reminds you. The shortest business report ever written, and everyone is in it.

living Al-'Asr
The asr audit

The surah is named after the waning afternoon. Once a day, around Asr, one honest question: is today running at a loss or a profit? Thirty seconds, no apps involved.

Time is the capital

You check your bank balance weekly; al-Asr says the real account is hours. Your screen-time report is a ledger of where the capital went. Read it like an investor, not like a spectator.

Loss is solo, success is communal

The saved ones counsel each other. One friend who reminds you of truth and patience is infrastructure, not luxury. Be that friend for someone this week and you enter the verse from both sides.
